Carolingian binding of "An Early Meal"
Together with Eva Eriksson we have made a few examples of "An Early Meal with a histirical binding technique called Carolingian binding. It is based on 9:th Century books and other examples from J. a. Szirmai book "The Archaeology of medieval Book binding - Carolingian bindings" from 1999

9. After fixation of the binding the cover boards and the headband the book rest overnight.
10. The block wrapped together with press plates in plastic and paper to protect the sheets from becoming wet during the gluing of the skin cover.
11. The buckles are "nitade" in a leather thong and then fastened in a recess in the cover board.
